Little girls and play dates

Madison and I (in the last month or so) have entered into the world of play dates. Well basically it boils down to entertaining a 4 year old girl is a LOT of work. I figured out that if I get a friend over they play (for 80% of the time they play) I can clean, watch TV, play on the computer or read. It is great!!!

On the flip side my Madison is a bossy little terd. I am trying to figure out how to teach her to not be so bossy, but I know leadership is a good quality...just not every 5 seconds. So Yay for friends coming over!

I have been trying to get Madison to get her hair cut, the problem is all princesses have LONG hair so cutting it just is not an option for her. But I have learned how to use the things closest to her for my benefit. SO Fancy Nancy book are great on teaching girls how to be fancy and high maintenance. I told Madison I would take her to a salon (which is a "fancy" place) to get all posh and fancy. She ate it right up. Today at 3 I will finally be able to get her hair cut! Woo hoo I love manipulating kids. ha ha I will put pictures of her new do up later.

Spring Cleaning!!!

Its that time again! Cleaning out all the kids clothes that don't fit. Finally being able to shut thier drawers all the way. I hate it but mama's got to do it. Spring break was this past week. The kids and I went down to the Austin area to see friends, which I LOVE doing. Its nice to see everyone, then Josh came down and we went hiking and camping. Fun!!! Now its back to my regular routine...what ever that is.
Other exciting news...my sister had her baby a little boy name Harvey. He is so cute.
Okay I am not that good at bloging, so I am done.
Peace

Visits

My mom came down this past week. It was a suprise becuase it was a last minute thing. I love being able to get to see my mom, but to me I love that my kids get to spend time with their grandma. We went to a park hiked, had a picnic and then played at the playground. To me family is the most important thing you have, so any time together is amazing. Here are some pictures. Enjoy.

today is a new day

I use to be so good at writing in my journal. Its been about 6 years. So today will be the day where I try again. There are a few new things going on in my life.

1. Halloween was so much fun. Madison was so in love with her costume she kept going around the house giggling. She wanted to be a princess for halloween, but I told her she dressed up everyday like a princess so she needed to pick something else. So she picked a fairy princess. That was a big enough difference for me. So fairy princess she was, and oh was she cute. Hudson had the choice between a monkey, a bat or a dragon. He picked the dragon. We had a few trial runs with him so he would think is was fun. He would run around the house growling at everyone. The day of, of course he didnt get a nap so he was not as excited as our trial runs. The kids got plenty of candy. Hudson just wanted to eat what was given to him right away. So I gave him a sucker and he was happy.

2. Thanksgiving.
Oh I am excited about turkey day. Two of my sisters are coming down with their kiddos and hubbys. This wil be my first family hosting function, plus my first Thanksgiving to make. My mother-in-law has done them for the past 5 years. :) So I will get to see my sisters, which is always a good thing. And I will get to make my house smell like Thanksgiving for the first time!

3. Today Madison decided to give herself a haircut. I thought I had been lucky and missed that fun adventure, but I guess not. I'm debating if I should just get it cut or not.... I think I can get away with comafologing most of it, except for the 1/2 inch bangs in the front. I really didnt know how to react. Should I laugh...so I told her we were going to get her hair cut like a boy, she did NOT like that idea.

Mom again

Well New Orleans was beautiful...the French Quarter anyways. If you have never been I suggest it. It feels like you stepped back in time (and really you did) The buildings are 100's of years old. I love history and different cultures. The French Quarter really has French influence there. While we were there we did the tour of New Orleans. I really thought after 2 years there would be lots of progress in rebuilding. Out of the 4 1/2 hour tour we spent 3 hours looking at all the houses that are now vacant due to the Levey break. We also saw the 9th Ward. My heart broke to see how poor these people are and how they still have no where to live. There is so much poverty. I just wanted to jump out and help. There is so much work to be done. I was amazed to find there is about 1/2 the population there, so many people had nothing to come back to, they just didn't.

I did find the natives were proud to be there, and proud of their city. The French Quarter is something to be proud of.

Last...the best part...the FOOD. Josh and I ate about 5 meals a day. We had crawfish, oysters, po-boys, mufflettas, jambalaya, bennetes, dirty rice.....the list goes on. Food alone is a good enough reason to visit. Now all I have to do is work off everything I ate there!!! :)

VACATION!!!

Vacations with just Josh and me are far and few between. BUT Wednesday morning Josh and I are off to New Orleans to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. I don't know if I am more excited to see New Orleans for the first time or just spend time with Josh w/o kids. I love being a mom, but it is SO nice to just be Diana on occasion. Don't you worry I will take pictures and show you all the fun I had :) If there is anywhere we just HAVE to go to, let me know.

Canton, Genreal Conference and my dryer

If you live by Canton, 1st Monday's are an experience. It was fun just walking around looking at all the interesting things people try to sell. A warning to impulse shoppers, you need a plan to stick by or you will come back with all sorts of fun things you never knew you needed. Luckily I am not one of those :)
I am so blessed to be able to be a part of general conference. (by a part of I mean listen to:) I love the spirit I feel when men and women of God are sharing experiences and their testimonies. I love to get revamped on life and challenge myself to be a better mom, wife, sister and friend. I am grateful that I can be an ever changing and growing individual that can one day return to my Heavenly Father. I am thankful for the righteous men that lead the Church and hold the priesthood power.
Last, which I know is a huge jump from the last subject is, our dryer went out. Whoo hoo, and the weekend is my laundry time. I love that life is a never ending event after event of things breaking. ha ha Life is good.
